Chairperson's Welcome Message

Welcome Message to SCCAO Members:

Welcome everyone to the 2008/09 school year. I hope that you have had a restful summer and feel refreshed for the upcoming year.

This year promises to be an exciting one as we look forward to the implementation of the revised Ontario curricula for Science and Technology (1-8), and release of the Science (9-12). SCCAO, as a professional body, encourages dialogue and networking among its members and is suited to respond to your needs as a science coordinator or consultant. Admittedly, the new curricula will be the major emphasis this year. We plan to focus not only on continuing professional development, but also on coordination of our efforts to develop and share resources that will support implementation. The growing revitalization of environmental education in our schools is another topic for dialogue.

We are looking at expanding ways to reach our members through our web site as a vehicle for communication and by increasing teleconferencing options. Since our members help to shape the direction of our organization, I invite your involvement at our regular meetings. Your input and participation are valued.

Our first meeting will be at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton - Toronto Airport on Nov 12, 2008. Further details about this meeting, including an agenda and location map will be posted shortly on our web site. The schedule for all of our meetings for this academic year is available on our web site in order to assist you in planning for the future.

I look forward to seeing you at our November 12 meeting.

Susan Paradiso,
Chair (on behalf of the Executive for)
Science Coordinators and Consultants Association of Ontario (SCCAO)
